Balance Dome Stand
A balance hold on a balance dome, the half-sphere trainer with a flat base: you stand on its domed top with both feet and keep your body steady while the surface moves under you. The calves and the small muscles around the ankles work constantly to hold you upright.

How to do the Balance Dome Stand
- Place the balance dome on a flat floor with the domed side up and stand next to it.
- Step onto the middle of the dome with one foot, then bring the other foot up beside it, about hip-width apart.
- Stand tall with your arms relaxed at your sides and your knees slightly bent.
- Keep your weight even across both feet and look at a point straight ahead.
- Hold the position for the planned time, letting your ankles and calves make small corrections.
- Step off one foot at a time to finish.
Form tips
- Stand next to a wall or a sturdy support the first few times so you can steady yourself.
- Grip the dome with the whole foot and keep your toes relaxed; clenching them makes the balance harder.
- Do not stare at your feet; a fixed point ahead of you helps your balance.
